Description

Soap nuts have been used for years as a natural alternative to laundry detergents and other cleaning products.  The nut is deseeded and the shells are used.  In laundry 3-5 shells can be put in a muslin bag and tossed in with the laundry.  Typically you will get about 6 loads of wash before they need replacing.  They become greyish and soft when they need to be replaced.  You do not see suds when using these but they do release saponins which is a natural cleansing agent.  Soap nuts are great for those wanting to reduce the carbon foot print or those allergic to detergents as they are hypoallergenic.
